In the Beginning........ |
The Ford Family is a legacy of deacons, reverends, entrepreneurs, graduates, artists, registered nurses, air traffic controllers, doctors, U.S. Marshals, and extraordinary chefs! Our history dates back to Mary Williams and Father Ford (only the last name is known) who was the mother and father of George Ford Sr. Research has been done in Bryan and College Station, Texas to find more information about Mary and Ford, but due to lack of documentation, this is the furthest back we can go in George Ford Sr.'s history. On the other hand, Victoria Smith was born of Eli and Joesphine Cowles Smith. Joesphine's parents were Jim and Nancy Cowles. Nancy Cowles died November 3, 1914 in Brazos County, Texas.
George Ford Sr. had many siblings. Although there isn't much information available on them, we are grateful to have their names: Williams Flowers, Bud Nelson, Arthur Williams, Forrest Ford (George's only full brother), Julia Williams Bazy and Sophia Williams. Uncle William, Uncle Bud and Grandpa George were the closest of the brothers; his sister Sophia was living with him and his family at the time of her death.
George married Victoria Smith, and from thier union 11 children were born. Out of the 11, two
of them died at very other early ages. Most of the family members that are known today in the Ford Family are descendants of the 9 surviving children of George and Victoria Ford. This site is a continuous project, and I hope it gives you a clear understanding of the roots of our beautiful family. At the present time, the site only goes to the fourth generation. However, I will do what I can to make this site complete. If you have information that you would like to see included on the site or if you see some corrections please email me at sharipierre@yahoo.com. The information used in this site is based off of the information and resources provided by Viola Toliver's daughters Vanee Toliver Robinson and Eleanor Toliver Williams.
The legacy left by our forefathers was passed on from generation to generation; we feel empowered by the spiritual influence they left upon our lives. Their lives were guided by Deuteronomy 6: 5-9: "An though shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: An though shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and whn thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates. |
